European Journal of Soil Science Special Issue
Soil solutions for a sustainable world
Dr. Mathilde Hagens, Dr. Giulia Bongiorno, Dr. Loes van Schaik, Dr. Slava Vasenev
We are happy to announce that we will publish a Special Issue in the European Journal of Soil Science about ‘Soil solutions for a sustainable world’. Contributions which are presented at the Wageningen Soil Conference 2023 can be submitted to this Special Issue. Submissions can have a relatively broad scope, as long as they focus on either one of the main conference topics (i.e. Soils for Society, Advances in Measuring and Modelling Soil Processes, Mapping and Evaluating Soil Functions across Scales, or Soils for Nature-Based Solutions). However, we do ask authors to reflect thoroughly in their papers on how their work links to the main theme of the Special Issue: ‘Soil solutions for a sustainable world’.
In order to contribute to the Special Issue, we ask authors to express their interest to the organising committee by sending an email to wageningensoilconference@wur.nl. Subsequently we expect to receive an abstract of the article the authors plan to submit by 15th October 2023 and the final article by 15th January 2024.
Abstract Deadline: 15th October 2023
Abstract Guidelines
Abstracts should be submitted in a word document to wageningensoilconference@wur.nl. Abstracts are limited to 2000 characters. The final sentence should state the novelty of the research with respect to an improved understanding of, and wider relevance to, soil solutions for a sustainable world.
Keywords
6-10 keywords (in alphabetical order, separated by commas)
Highlights
Authors should provide four Highlights. These should be included separately after the Abstract as bullet points of up to 100 characters each including spaces. The highlights should address the following:
- What is the main scientific question that your paper addresses?
- What is novel, important and timely about your work?
- What are your key findings?
- What is your main conclusion?
- How does you work contribute to soil solutions for a sustainable world?
Please ensure that you address all of the requirements (Abstract, Keywords and Highlights) as this allows the editorial team to get a good understanding of your paper.
Full Paper Submission Deadline: 15th January 2024
Author Guidelines can be found here
Once invited to submit a full paper to the special issue, you will be asked to submit via the manuscript central on the EJSS website, where you will have the option to select the special issue.
Costs
There are no costs to authors to publish in the EJSS because the readers pay to view the documents via subscription charges.
However, if the authors/their institutions want their paper to be Open Access they may have to pay an Article Publication Charge (APC). Wiley has made agreements with institutions in several countries, e.g. Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, Hungary or Norway, meaning that authors based in these countries can publish Open Access free of charge. Information for all countries is available on the Wiley website.
